It's Smoothie Makin' Time!

I know, it has been awhile. So much has been going on in the Huggins household. One, I recently finished a play that was taking up a large amount of time; second, Brian and I are moving back to Tuscaloosa!! Roll Tide! So lots of time now is spent finding a place to live, packing and more packing. Moving is no fun. But, we are excited to get back home to friends and family.
During my play run I got a hold of a yummy and nutritious smoothie recipe from a great friend and cast member. I wanted to share because I LOVE smoothies.
You will need
1 Cup Spinach
1 Cup frozen strawberries
1 Medium rip banana
1/4 Cup Protein powder
1/4 Cup Oats, whole grain please =)
1 Teaspoon Olive Oil
1 Cup Coconut Almond Milk (or 1/2 Cup Almond milk and 1/2 Coconut milk or Skim milk will do)

In my smoothie I use Advocare's meal replacement powder b/c it's what I got. I was using just a standard whey protein. One scoop= 154 kcals and about 25 grams of protein. Any protein powder you want to use is fine. Change up the fruits if you want as well. I was also using peaches with banana...yum!!

Directions: I process my spinach first in the food processor. Remember, you can use any dark green vegetable here-romaine lettuce, celery, kale, etc. Spinach is tasteless, that's why I like it! Then blend all the other ingredient in a good blender! It yields about 760 ml. That's a little over 3 cups! =)

Brain won't touch it because of the color! =)

Don't freak out because it's a lot of calories! Remember it's a full meal. You are getting a serving of veggies, 3-4 servings of fruit plus grains and a little fat! I typically only drink half or a little more in the morning and save the other half for after my work out in the evening. It does keep me full until lunch which is around 11:30 for me. Drinking the whole thing I won't get hungry until around 12:30-1:00.

I'm working on a man, AKA Brian friendly, smoothie!
