Motivation Monday-Run your butt off

This is literally what I have been doing the past 5 weeks. For some reason my legs and hips got bigger but my hind end has shrunk...not complaining...I just wish something would happen with these loves handles. Five weeks ago a friend and I decided to start training for our first half marathon. Now, let me remind you I have only completed 3 5k's and I thought I would never recover. When people say "running is me time," I want to say "running is my torture time." But, I'm pushing through. I will tell you, smiling helps you run a little faster. =)

I'm trying to stay positive, but running doesn't come easy for me. I believe it is more of a mental issue then physical. Today, I am in need of the motivation and inspiration to keep me running.

Please, send the love and tips my way!

Below is the training schedule I have been following. I completed 6 miles on Saturday in the hot Alabama heat!  My time was about 1 hour and 6 minutes. I tried to keep my heart rate steady. I chose to do the 20 week because, like I said, running does not come easy for me. I'm hoping to post stats later this week. Hopefully, this will inspire you to get up and challenge yourself to do something that doesn't come easy! We aren't gettin' any younger people! Conquer the day!!

  1. you are doing great lady! Its all about getting in your long run and building your pace. I always start off to fast and by mile 4 i'm slowing down, you have to be steady! Working in water helps

    1. I have to say I'm proud of myself for getting this far. I'm trying to remember to keep my heart rate steady and not over do it. You are still planning to run right? Your long legs will leave me in the dust.

  2. I must admit I feel the same way about running! It doesn't come easy for me AT ALL. I tried to pick up running last year and ran a couple 5K's but never had the courage to bite the bullet and do a half marathon! Good luck and keep us updated on how training goes and maybe you will inspire me to try to run a half someday!

    1. Good to know others feel the same way. If you feel like picking up and flying over to Nashville in September me and Ashley (above) will be running in the Women's Half Marathon.
      =) Happy Memorial Day!
